The night before we were going to visit the campus, we arrived at our hotel. A few minutes later, my dad informs me that..
"Oh yeah, Rachele, I scheduled a personal interview for you tomorrow."
My brain processed nothing but silence for several seconds, and then I sorta halfway panicked. I was not at all in the mental state to be thrown into a random interview. First off, I wasn't even going to do interviews until I was really serious about the college, not just vaguely interested. Secondly, I had no idea what I was going to talk about. Third, we had been travelling for two weeks, and all I had left were jeans and a t-shirt to wear.
So I go through a disturbed night's sleep to be awoken at 6am. We start to get ready. My mom gets ready first, and when I go up to the bathroom sink after her, she says, "Oh, I'll move my curling iron so that it's not in the way." She unplugs it and moves it somewhere. A few seconds later I start searching for a hair clip. I thought I had left it on the bed. So I walk over.
It couldn't be avoided, I suppose.
The bedspread was so brightly colored and patterned that objects lying upon it weren't visible for several seconds.
I sit down, and reach to pull back the covers.
And OW.
I had basically rammed the underside of my wrist onto the still boiling curling iron.
And then I had to wait until my dad finished brushing his teeth before I could run it under cold water.
So I end up going to the interview utterly confused, unprepared, and with an arm that was actually shaking with pain.
I don't really know how the interview went; I wasn't really paying attention. I guess it went ok. We briefly talked about Harry Potter. She wanted Neville to kill Voldemort.
Later, we head back to the parking lot, and somehow I end up getting my ankle slammed on the side of the car door. A purple-ish welt immediately appears.
Then we get pulled over for speeding on the way back.
But we have finally returned. Although, from the pulled muscle to the scrapped foot to the welted foot to the burn to sleeping on a pool float, etc., I rather feel like my body has been stuffed with needles. And my dad says that we might have to go see someone about the burn. *SIGH*
OH YEAH, I forgot...
Apparently Kelly I. has been offered a tennis scholarship to Notre Dame, of all places. This is rather disappointing, seeing as she doesn't come close to meeting their normal academic/leadership/test scores/etc. requirements. All I can say is that if I end up applying there and don't end up getting in, but she ends up going there, I will be very annoyed.
